For weddings, my normal practice is to ask for a bit of background about the bride and groom and the type of wedding ceremony you would like. Then I draft up a ceremony for you to review and edit. Sometimes we swap it back and forth a bit, and when you (the bride that is) are happy with it, we meet up somewhere convenient to discuss it in detail (and for me to share some of the crazy stories I have to tell.)

There is absolutely no obligation in any of this.

When the couple decides to book me for the wedding, I ask for a $ 100 deposit to reserve the date, with the balance to be paid sometime before the wedding, usually when the marriage licence is passed to me for safe keeping (and I can tell you stories of what happened when it wasn't!!).
